Tenuta Mazzolino `Mazzolino` Bonarda Oltrepò Pavese DOC, Oltrepò Pavese, Italy. This still Red wine is a dry expression of the Croatina grape, cultivated in organically certified vineyards. The grapes undergo destemming and fermentation in stainless steel vats with pre-fermentation maceration and follatura, followed by 6 months of aging in vats. It presents a deep colour with inviting aromas of dark plum and earthy notes, leading to a palate of rich black fruit flavours and lovely rustic tannins. A versatile choice, it pairs beautifully with cured meats, hearty pasta dishes, or roasted beef.
75.0CL , 14.0% ABV
The grapes were destemmed and fermented in stainless steel vats with a pre-fermentation maceration to enhance flavour extraction. Throughout fermentation follatura (punching down) was used to gently submerge the grape skins, ensuring optimal extraction of tannins and flavour. After fermentation, the wine was aged in vats for 6 months.
This Bonarda offers a deep and inviting aroma of dark plum and earthy undertones. On the palate, it delivers rich black fruit flavours complemented by rustic tannins, showcasing its deep roots in the Oltrepò Pavese hills.
Serve at 16-18°C, ideally decanted for an hour to allow its rustic tannins to soften.
