Gunderloch `Roter Hang` Erste Lage Nierstein Riesling from Rheinhessen, Germany, is a captivating dry White still wine crafted from 100% Riesling. Undergoing 24-48 hours of skin contact and fermented in used oak barrels and cement eggs, then aged on fine lees, it develops a broad, intensely flavoured palate. Expect lifted aromas of wild herbs, fennel, tangerine and honeysuckle, leading to notes of wild herbs, fennel and lemon pith, culminating in a long, saline finish with a mineral edge. Certified organic, vegan, and vegetarian, it pairs beautifully with poultry, lean fish, or spicy dishes.

Vinification
The grapes were harvested by hand. On arrival at the winery they underwent partial skin contact for 24-48 hours, a long and gentle press in a pneumatic press. The juice was then left to settle overnight. Fermentation occurred in a combination of old oak vessels ranging from 600 to 1200L, and 1200L cement eggs. The wine was then aged for 7 months on the fine lees.
Flavour profile
This dry White Riesling offers a broad and intensely flavoured palate, showcasing notes of wild herbs, fennel, and bright lemon pith. It culminates in a long, saline finish with a distinctive mineral edge, complemented by lifted aromas of tangerine and honeysuckle.
Serving recommendation
Serve chilled at 12-14°C. Decanting for 30 minutes before serving will enhance its complex aromas.
