Grenache and Syrah

Domaine Bressy-Masson Rasteau Rasteau AOC from Rasteau, Southern Rhône, France is a captivating Red (still) wine, dry and full-bodied. This blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre undergoes fermentation in concrete, with Syrah aged in old oak barrels and the other varieties in concrete or stainless steel. It offers an intense bouquet of ripe blackberries, violets, and Provençal herbs, with hints of liquorice. The palate is juicy and generous, featuring smooth tannins and a touch of salinity that leads to a long, satisfying finish. This versatile wine pairs beautifully with roasted beef, lamb, or mature hard cheeses.

Vinification

The grapes were optically sorted before being slightly crushed. Fermentation took place in concrete at a controlled temperature of 26 °C. Each grape variety was vinified separately to maximise the expression of both site. Maceration time was around 30 days with pumping over and micro-oxygenation carried out daily. The Syrah was aged in old oak barrels for eight months, whereas the Grenache spent eight months in concrete and stainless-steel tanks, before blending.

Flavour profile

This red wine offers an intense bouquet of ripe blackberries and violets, complemented by subtle hints of liquorice and Provençal herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied with generous dark fruit, smooth tannins, and a touch of salinity leading to a long finish.

Serving recommendation

Serve at 16-18°C; decant for 30-60 minutes to enhance aromas and soften tannins.
