Amalaya Malbec
A vibrant Red wine offering rich red fruit, vanilla, and spice, with an elegant freshness perfect for grilled meats
Amalaya Calchaquí Valley Malbec from Argentina is a vibrant red (rouge) still dry wine, crafted from a blend of Malbec, Tannat, and Petit Verdot grapes. Fermented in small concrete tanks, 25% of the wine is aged for eight months in second-use French oak, contributing to its complexity. The nose reveals enticing aromas of ripe strawberry, raspberry, and delicate floral notes, complemented by hints of pepper and spice. On the palate, it delivers rich red fruit flavours, vanilla, and a touch of spice, all supported by well-integrated tannins and an elegant freshness. This versatile wine pairs beautifully with grilled meats or mature cheeses. It is also suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Vinification
Once at the winery, the grapes underwent a four day cold maceration. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 24°C with two pump overs per day. This was then followed by maceration on the skins for 20-25 days, to extract good levels of colour and tannins. Malolactic conversion then took place in stainless steel tanks to give the wine greater balance. It was then racked to both stainless steel tanks (75%) and used barrels (25%) to undergo an eight month ageing period prior to blending and bottling.
Flavour profile
This Malbec offers an inviting bouquet of ripe red berries, floral undertones, and a touch of spice. On the palate, vibrant red fruit flavours mingle with vanilla and a hint of pepper, all framed by well-integrated tannins and a refreshing finish.
