Matošević `Grimalda` Red from Istria, Croatia, is an organic certified, vegan and vegetarian friendly dry red wine. This still wine is a blend of Teran and Merlot, sourced from a terraced, sunny single vineyard. Aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, it reveals a vibrant ruby colour with a nose dominated by bramble, plum, and red cherry, complemented by hints of chocolate and spice. The palate is fresh and juicy, offering soft tannins, an elegant structure, and a lifted minerality on the finish. Teran contributes forest berry aromas and crunchy tannins, while Merlot adds flesh and suppleness. This versatile wine pairs wonderfully with roasted meats or mature cheeses.

Vinification
The hand-picked grapes were meticulously sorted before being destemmed and crushed. Fermentation took place on the skins at controlled temperatures for around two weeks. After fermentation, the wine was aged in small, used oak barrels for 15 months, after which it was blended and aged in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then bottled and spent several months in the Matošević cellar prior to release.

This Croatian red wine offers a vibrant bouquet of forest berries, ripe plum, and red cherry, beautifully interwoven with subtle hints of chocolate and warming spices. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, showcasing soft tannins and an elegant structure that leads to a lifted, mineral-driven finish.

Serve at 16-18°C; decanting for 30 minutes before serving will enhance its complexity.
