Bodegas Lan `Viña Lanciano` Rioja Reserva Rioja DOCa, Spain, is an elegant still Red (Tinto) dry wine crafted from Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo. Meticulously vinified and aged for 16 months in Tronçais oak, then 9 months in concrete and 12 months in bottle, it offers complex aromas of ripe red and black fruits, violet, and cinnamon, alongside a distinctive minerality, subtle smokiness, and earthy, leathery notes. The silky, refined palate showcases ripe fruits and integrated tannins, leading to an elegant finish. This remarkable Rioja pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef, or mature cheeses. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Vinification

Upon arrival at the winery, the hand-harvested grapes underwent a double sorting process, first bunch by bunch, then by berry. Fermentation took place in small stainless-steel tanks, with daily pump overs and a long post-fermentation maceration to round out the tannins. with extended post-fermentation maceration. Malolactic fermentation took place in small 225-litre French oak barriques, sourced from the Tronçaise forests. The wine is aged for a total of 37 months; 16 months in Tronçais oak barrels, 9 months in concrete tanks and spends a further 12 months in bottle before release.

Flavour profile

This elegant Rioja Reserva offers a complex bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, intertwined with delicate violet, cinnamon, and a distinctive minerality. The palate is silky and refined, revealing further layers of fruit, subtle smokiness, and earthy undertones from oak ageing.

Serving recommendation

Serve at 16-18°C. Decant for an hour to allow its complex aromas and flavours to fully develop.
