Altos Las Hormigas Jardin de Hormigas `Los Amantes` Malbec from Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley, Argentina, is a still, dry red wine crafted from 100% Malbec grapes. Vinified in concrete vats with 15% whole clusters and indigenous yeasts, it undergoes 15 months of ageing in untoasted 3,500-litre French oak foudres, followed by 12 months in bottle. This elegant and aromatic wine reveals notes of fresh cherries, blackcurrant, mint, and an earthy complexity. The palate is juicy, crisp, and pure with great grip, leading to a persistent finish. Certified organic, vegan, and vegetarian, it pairs wonderfully with beef, lamb, or mature cheeses.

Winemaking

The grapes were vinified for 25 days in concrete vats, and then fermented with 15% whole clusters and indigenous yeasts. The temperature was kept at 24 degrees throughout the entire process, in order to main the purity of the fruit aromas. The wine was then aged in untoasted, 3,500-litre French oak foudres for 15 months. It was very softly filtrated before bottling and then was aged a further 12 months in bottle.
