Montes Alpha Carmenère from Colchagua Valley, Chile, is a vibrant red wine, dry in style, crafted primarily from Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This wine undergoes 12 months of ageing in 50% new French oak barrels, contributing to its complexity. It opens with intense aromas of plum, cherry, and cassis, intertwined with sweet spice and dark chocolate. The palate reveals well-integrated toasted oak flavours and a vibrant fruit core, supported by silky tannins and a well-structured body. This vegan and vegetarian-friendly wine pairs wonderfully with roasted meats or mature cheeses.
75.0CL , 14.5% ABV
The grapes were hand harvested before going through a second selection at the winery and destemming. Pre-fermentation maceration took place over 5 days, after which selected yeasts were added. Fermentation lasted for 7-10 days before the wine was racked into either stainless steel or concrete tanks where malolactic fermentation occurred. Finally, the wine was aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 12 months. The remainder of the wine waited in concrete tanks prior to blending and bottling.
This Montes Alpha Carmenère offers an intense aromatic experience with notes of dark fruit, sweet spice, and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, toasted oak flavours are beautifully integrated with a vibrant fruit core, leading to a well-structured body and silky tannins.
Serve at 16-18°C. Decant for 30 minutes to an hour to allow the wine to open up.
