Poggiotondo Chianti Superiore Chianti Superiore DOCG, Italy, is a superb still red wine (rosso) crafted from a blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino, and Trebbiano grapes. This dry, organic, vegan, and vegetarian-friendly wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks and ages in both concrete and large untoasted oak casks, preserving its vibrant fruit and texture. It offers an elegant nose of ripe dark fruits and earthy undertones, leading to a palate with supple, velvety tannins, spicy dark cherry, and wild hedgerow flavours, culminating in a long, complex finish. A versatile choice, it pairs beautifully with rich pasta dishes, roasted meats, or mature cheeses.
75.0CL , 13.5% ABV
Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were carefully selected. The fruit was destemmed and fermentation took place spontaneously in temperature controlled concrete tanks for two weeks at 24°C. The wine aged in both concrete tanks and large untoasted 54hl casks, before being blended. This is followed by refinement for a few months in the bottle.
This Chianti Superiore offers an elegant nose of ripe dark fruits and earthy undertones. The palate is characterised by supple, velvety tannins, revealing spicy dark cherry and wild hedgerow flavours, culminating in a long, complex finish.
Serve at 16-18°C, decanting for an hour to allow its complex dark fruit and earthy notes to unfold.
