Jean-Marc Burgaud Beaujolais Lantignié from Beaujolais, France, is a masterclass in balance. This still, dry red wine, crafted from Gamay grapes, undergoes whole bunch fermentation with controlled temperatures and daily tasting to achieve perfect balance. It boasts bright aromas of crunchy red fruits and violets, leading to a fleshy palate with superb structure, fine grainy tannins, concentrated red fruit flavours, and a racy acidity that lifts the finish. This versatile wine pairs beautifully with poultry, cured meats, and mild cheeses.

Vinification

Upon arrival at the winery the Gamay underwent a pre-fermentation maceration for seven days. The Gamay grapes were whole-bunch fermented at controlled temperatures of 23 to 28°C, with only one pump over per day. The fermenting wine was tasted every day to assess when the tannins and acidity were in perfect balance. “Judge a domaine on its entry point wine,” says Jean-Marc. “I do as much work in the vineyard and cellar on this wine as I do on my Côte du Py.”

This Beaujolais Lantignié offers a masterclass in balance, showcasing bright aromas of crunchy red fruits and delicate violets. On the palate, it delivers concentrated red fruit flavours with a fleshy texture, supported by fine, grainy tannins and a racy acidity that provides a lifted finish.
