Gran Sasso Alta Quota Pecorino
A vibrant white wine with floral and ripe citrus notes, complemented by a hint of spice and pear
Gran Sasso `Alta Quota` Pecorino from Abruzzo, Italy, is a still, dry white wine crafted from the indigenous Pecorino grape. Part of the Fantini group, this wine benefits from a singular microclimate. The vinification involves partial oak ageing for 20% of the must, lending a lightly spiced character on the nose, alongside fine floral and ripe citrus fruit aromas. On the palate, it offers good length with ripe pear flavours and a refreshing vivacity. This versatile wine pairs beautifully with lean fish, shellfish, and light pasta dishes.

Vinification
The Pecorino grapes were hand picked and meticulously sorted in the vineyards. At the winery, they were gently crushed and cooled, in order to help settling, with skin contact for about 12 hours at 3°C. Following this, approximately 80% of the must was fermented in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 12°C and the remaining 20% in 40hl oak barrels, to add character to the final blend. The wine then remained in stainless-steel tanks at a temperature of around 10°C, to maintain the fresh fruit aromas, before bottling and release.
Flavour profile
This still, dry white wine offers a delightful aromatic profile of fine floral notes, ripe citrus fruit, and a hint of spice from partial oak ageing. On the palate, it delivers a refreshing vivacity with prominent ripe pear flavours and a lingering finish.
