Tufarello Nero di Troia from Puglia, Italy, is a robust Red (ruby red) still dry wine, meticulously crafted from the indigenous Nero di Troia grape variety. Fermented in stainless steel with a precise two-week maceration on skins and a subtle touch of oak, this wine beautifully preserves the fruit's inherent freshness and vibrancy. It presents an inviting profile of dark plum, sour cherry, blueberry fruit, and sweet spice, supported by well-balanced tannins and a plush, long-lasting texture. This wine of lovely depth and personality is an excellent companion to dishes featuring beef, lamb, or mature cheeses.
75.0CL , 14.0% ABV
The aim in the winery is to preserve the freshness and vibrancy of the fruit. On arrival at the winery, the grapes were destemmed and gently crushed before fermentation and maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks between 30-32°C for 15 days. The wine spends about two weeks on the skins: “Enough to extract flavour and structure, but not enough to smother the fresh fruit with hard tannins”. After fermentation, the wine was aged in stainless steel for six months. A small amount of oak treatment adds richness but does not diminish freshness.
This robust red wine offers a captivating bouquet of dark plum, sour cherry, and blueberry fruit, complemented by sweet spice notes. Its well-balanced tannins and plush texture lead to a long-lasting and beautifully structured finish, showcasing both freshness and depth.
Serve at 16-18°C. Decanting for 30 minutes before serving will enhance its robust character.
