Heidi Schröck & Söhne `Riede Kulm` Blaufränkisch from Burgenland, Austria, is a benchmark example of this signature red still dry wine, hailing from the estate’s oldest vineyard planted in 1955. Crafted from Blaufränkisch grapes, with 20% whole clusters used in fermentation and 11 months ageing in 2000-litre used oak barrels, it boasts enticing aromas of red forest berries, ripe cherries and a hint of black pepper. The palate is vibrant and lively, offering a beautiful expression of fruit complemented by fine-grained tannins and a long, satisfying finish. This elegant wine is a versatile choice, pairing beautifully with roasted beef, lamb, game, or mature cheeses, making it perfect for a special meal.
75.0CL , 13.0% ABV
The grapes were hand-harvested in late September to ensure optimal selection and quality. The fruit underwent partial destemming before fermentation, with 20% retained as whole clusters to enhance aromatic complexity and structural depth. Fermentation proceeded on the skins for 14 days, allowing for careful extraction of colour, tannins, and flavour compounds. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in 2000-liter used oak barrels for 11 months, providing gentle integration and maturation without overwhelming the fruit character.
This Blaufränkisch offers a benchmark example of Burgenland's signature variety, boasting aromas of red forest berries, cherries, and black pepper. It presents a vibrant and lively palate, complemented by fine-grained tannins and a long, satisfying finish.
Serve at 12-14°C; decanting for 30 minutes will enhance its vibrant character.
