Bodegas Lan Reserva Rioja DOCa, Rioja Alta, Spain, presents a superb Red (ruby) still, dry wine, meticulously crafted from a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Mazuelo grapes. This Reserva is aged for 22 months in hybrid French and American oak barrels, developing intense aromas of ripe plum, succulent cherries, and rich blackberries, beautifully complemented by notes of vanilla, warming spices, and subtle earthy undertones from bottle age. The palate is exceptionally well-structured with velvety tannins and a vibrant acidity, carrying these complex flavours through to a long, lingering finish. An elegant and versatile Rioja, it pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, hearty stews, or mature hard cheeses.
75.0CL , 13.5% ABV
Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at 28-30°C and lasted for around three weeks, during this time regular pump overs ensured optimum extraction of colour and flavour. Following fermentation, the wine was transferred to hybrid French and American oak barrels (American oak staves with French oak heads, around 25% of which were new) where it underwent malolactic fermentation and 22 months ageing. After bottling, the wine was aged for a further 22 months in the Bodegas LAN cellars before release.
This Rioja Reserva displays an intense garnet hue, offering a complex bouquet of juicy plum, cherries, and blackberries, beautifully integrated with vanilla and spices from oak ageing, and subtle earthy undertones. The palate is exceptionally well-structured with velvety tannins and vibrant acidity, leading to a lingering finish of rich fruit and spice.
Serve at 16-18°C; decanting for 30-60 minutes will enhance its complex aromas.
