Altos Las Hormigas `Terroir` Luján de Cuyo, Argentina, is a certified organic Red (still) Malbec, offering a dry and vibrant expression from limestone soils. Grapes are hand-picked early and fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete, with a small portion aged in untoasted oak foudres, preserving its fresh character. Expect aromas and flavours of red cherries, raspberries, and red plum, complemented by hints of pink pepper and cinnamon. This wine boasts a silky texture and balanced acidity, leading to a savoury, long finish. It pairs beautifully with grilled meats or mature cheeses.
75.0CL , 13.9% ABV
The grapes were hand-picked early to preserve the freshness of the fruit. The grapes were gravity-fed into small concrete tanks for pressing and alcoholic fermentation. The juice was fermented using indigenous yeasts at 25°C for 15 days. Low temperatures during fermentation were key to obtaining fresh red fruit notes in the wine. Following fermentation, 90% of the wine was aged in concrete pools while the remaining 10% was aged in untoasted large oak foudres. The wine was then bottled and aged for another 6 months in the cellar prior to release.
This vibrant Red Malbec from Luján de Cuyo offers an enticing bouquet of fresh red fruits, complemented by subtle spicy undertones. On the palate, it delivers a silky texture with balanced acidity, culminating in a savoury and lingering finish.
Serve at 16-18°C. Decant for 30 minutes to allow its vibrant red fruit and spice notes to open.
