Altos Las Hormigas Mendoza Blanco from Uco Valley, Argentina, is a vibrant dry white still wine crafted from Chenin Blanc, Pedro Giménez, and Semillon. Grapes were harvested early for natural acidity, with partial skin fermentation for Semillon and Pedro Giménez, then fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete and aged for six months without oak. It offers an expressive nose of white peach, kumquat, jalapeño, tropical passion fruit, and delicate floral notes. The palate is juicy and textured, with a fresh mouthfeel and strong acidity, leading to a long, saline, floral finish. Vegan and vegetarian friendly, it pairs well with lean fish or poultry.
75.0CL , 12.0% ABV
The three grape varieties were harvested early to achieve high levels of natural acidity. Each variety was vinified separately until the final blend, as different winemaking practices were carried out depending on the needs of each grape. The semillion was fermented with 40% whole bunches and the Pedro Giménez was fermented with 20% on the skins. The Chenin was vinified traditionally, and all grapes were fermented using only indigenous yeasts in concrete vats. The wine was then aged for 6 months in concrete vats, with no oak used at any point.
This vibrant white blend offers an expressive nose of white peach, kumquat, and a hint of jalapeño, complemented by tropical passion fruit and delicate floral undertones. The palate is juicy and textured, with a fresh mouthfeel, a strong backbone of acidity, and a long finish with saline and floral notes.
Serve chilled at 12-14°C to best enjoy its fresh acidity and vibrant fruit.
